Grading Policies for Religion
* The eighth grade curriculum focuses on Church history and preparing to receive the sacrament of Confirmation. Students who have already been confirmed will have the opportunity to engage in enrichment activities pertaining to Scripture.
* There will be a test after each chapter.
* Students are often informed that their homework assignments (mini-projects or Scripture response) will be collected and graded. These assignments also count as test grades.
*Journal responses will be assigned on a daily basis. A trimester’s worth of journal responses will be worth one test grade. Students will be responsible for completing the journal response even if they are absent from school that day.
*Five religion maintenance questions are written on the board in both homerooms. Students are responsible for copying these questions in their copybooks and answering them during morning homeroom. We will go over the answers during religion class. Any of these questions may appear on assessments. If students are absent, it is expected that they get the questions and answers from a classmate or the teacher.
* Students must document that they have completed ten "Helpful Projects of Service" for the school year. This is due during the week of May Procession and has the weight of one test grade.
* Each student begins the trimester with a 100% for his or her homework/participation grade. Five points are deducted for each assignment that the student does not complete in a timely manner.
*Students who desire extra credit for each trimester should be working on the Bishop’s CYO Religion Award. Students who complete all the requirements will be recognized during the final award ceremony.
